The NFL season began uncertainly Sunday morning. Traffic infraction landed Miami Dolphins standout Tyreek Hill in police custody.
ESPN's Jeff Darlington claimed on Sunday Night Countdown that authorities detained the Dolphins star for careless driving. After arguing with cops, he was handcuffed.
The event went viral before Miami's season opener against Jacksonville.
Hill addressed the disturbing situation after the Dolphins' 20-17 triumph.
“Right now, I’m still trying to put it all together,” Hill told ESPN. “I have no idea what happened. This platform allows me to ask, ‘What if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill?’ Worst-case scenario?”
Hill says he wasn't impolite to officers and was confused by his detention. Following the event, Miami police placed an officer on administrative leave.
Two Hill teammates tried to calm things down. Calais Campbell was also arrested. Miami had a messy, unnecessary scenario Sunday morning.
We'll see how things unfold as it's unlikely to go away. This won't help Miami's police PR.
Hill later scored a touchdown against the Jaguars and celebrated by imitating arrest.
