Shannon Sharpe, an NFL Hall of Famer, landed himself in hot water last week when he went live on Instagram Live while having sex with a woman
The video sparked plenty of Sharpe-related jokes, as well as some criticism, which irritated Stephen A. Smith.
On the latest episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show, Smith discussed the footage of Sharpe and the subsequent controversy. What's his conclusion? Sharpe did nothing wrong.
"He didn't do anything wrong," Smith explained. Mistakes happen. Accidents happen. It's really that simple.
Smith took issue with others who referred to the film as a "sex tape" of Sharpe and the woman he was with.
He disputed the concept, claiming that there were no sex actions apparent in the film, implying that it was more likely an accident than an attempt to create such a video.
"The nerve of people out there who were trying to act like he did something wrong, two consenting adults were getting it in… what's the problem?"
He said. "They're attempting to say sex tape, sex tape." Oh, no. You did not see it... Accidents happen.
Fortunately for Sharpe, ESPN seems to concur with Smith's judgment. According to reports
the network has decided that Sharpe will not face disciplinary action as a result of her Instagram Live show
