C.J. Stroud, the Houston Texans quarterback, was happy after leading the team to a 45-14 victory
over the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, with 274 passing yards and three touchdown passes.
Stroud left the pitch to speak with Kathryn Tappen of NBC. Before talking about his team's performance, he praised Jesus.
"First and foremost, I just want to give all glory to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,"
he said before talking about Houston and the support he's had from Texans fans in less than a year as quarterback.
The occasion was ruined throughout the week when NBC sought to remove that section of his address from the video posted on X.
The "Sunday Night Football on NBC" X account tweeted a video of Stroud conversing with Tappen, although it started with him praising the city.
"I mean, it's been amazing being in this city for as short as I've been, but the love that I've got," he is quoted as saying in the "Sunday Night Football" segment.
"I've really only been doing this for Houston, man. People back home consider me lucky to be in my current situation.
We are fortunate to be playing at this high level right now. And we just have to keep going, but I'm very grateful." NBC faced criticism online for the article.
