With rookie first-round pick Rome Odunze injured in Week 1, the Chicago Bears will have him for a few weeks.
On September 9, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters that Odunze experienced a knee issue in Week 1 that caused “concern” for the team.
He said the No. 9 pick would get an MRI to assess severity.
Odunze's MRI revealed a sprained MCL, making him a “week-to-week” Bears player. Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report provided additional sprain context.
“Sources: The initial belief is that #Bears rookie WR Rome Odunze suffered a Grade 1 knee sprain during Sunday's win over the
#Titans,” Schultz wrote on X. Odounze will get a second assessment, but this is the best-case situation for the talented rookie receiver.”
The second play of the Bears' second-to-last drive in the fourth quarter certainly injured Odunze.
Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams threw a short right pass to Velus Jones Jr., who ran it for 8 yards.
