Miller Moss was ready to leave his win in the rearview mirror just a day after
achieving his lifetime goal of being named the starting quarterback for the University of Southern California.
Moss noted on Tuesday, "It is difficult in what we do to stop and smell the roses." "I mean, obviously,
that was a goal I set for myself a long time ago, and I'm thrilled that I was able to achieve it. However,
, I don't believe it's linked at this moment. The goal is to participate in contests and win them.
Despite the fact that Moss entered camp with a significant lead over Nevada Las Vegas transfer Jayden Maiava,
USC coach Lincoln Riley made it clear that Moss did not walk away with the job. Riley described the competition for the starting quarterback spot at
USC as "neck and neck," and complimented Maiava for making "a major, major jump" since the spring.
"But just consistently," Riley responded. "Miller was still the best and the guy we feel like gives this team the best chance to win and play well." Miller provided this team the finest opportunity to win and perform well.
Riley shared the news with Moss at a one-on-one meeting on Monday. When Moss arrived to the practice field for the walk-throughs, everyone on the team was already aware of the situation.
