The NFC North champion Detroit Lions (still has a lovely ring to it, doesn't it?) are gaining league recognition by sending five players to
the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive season. They hadn't done that since 1990-1991.
Detroit's Pro Bowl selections are edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, tight end Sam LaPorta, center Frank Ragnow, right tackle Penei Sewell
special teams standout Jalen Reeves-Maybin. Receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is tied with Tyreek Hill for second in receptions and sixth in yards,
was an unexpected snub, while being a first alternate. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs is a first alternate, as are quarterback Jared Goff (second alternate), lineman Jonah Jackson (third),
, running back David Montgomery (fourth), punt returner Kalif Raymond (fourth), and linebacker Alex Anzalone (fifth).
Ragnow is now only the third Lions center to have been selected to back-to-back Pro Bowls, joining Kevin Glover (1995-97) and Ed Flanagan (1969-71, 1973).
Ragnow has surrendered just one sack and ten pressures this season despite playing through an inoperable toe injury and played in Chicago just one week after meniscus surgery.
"Every day (after surgery), he kept telling me, 'I'll be ready next week,'" said head coach Dan Campbell. "
