The Knicks signed veteran guard Landry Shamet to a one-year deal about two weeks before training camp.
Shamet, 27, will fill the open roster spot, as the Knicks had 14 guaranteed contracts and can have up to 15 players.
It’s uncertain if Shamet’s deal is guaranteed, but he’s expected to make the final roster after choosing the Knicks over other teams.
The Knicks are exploring options to address the center position after losing Isaiah Hartenstein to the Thunder.
– With limited options on the free-agent market, the Knicks may seek a solution through trades.
Shamet previously played for the Wizards, averaging 7.1 points and shooting 43% in 46 games last season.
– He also had a season with the Nets, advancing to the playoffs with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
1. Shamet’s strengths include a career 38% 3-point shooting and extensive playoff experience (53 games in five seasons).
