Klay Thompson on Mavericks: 'I know we can do something special'

The Dallas Mavericks improved this offseason after emerging from the rock/paper/scissors West and reaching the NBA Finals last season.  

While starter Derrick Jones Jr. is gone, Klay Thompson joins Naji Marshall (a two-way wing whose role  

will develop throughout the season) and veteran guards Quentin Grimes and Spencer Dinwiddie.

on a boat journey to Catalina, and he told Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoop Journal that he believes this team has genuine potential.

"I'm excited; it's a whole new chapter of my career that has the potential to be really special," he told reporters

The club was so close to winning the championship last year—three wins away—that I am confident we have the ingredients for success. 

We just have to stick together and build week after week. I know we can achieve something spectacular

which is why I arrived early to get a sense for the city and its layout. And I'm having pleasure doing it."
