Strangers are debating who is the greatest basketball player of all time on the streets and in social media comment sections.

Sometimes it yields positive results. Someone makes a valid point, and it makes you think.

However, most of the time it devolved into a yelling match devoid of rationality that led nowhere.

As a fan and a player, LeBron James has witnessed such pointless conversations.

He's even a frequent topic in many of these debates. Perhaps these are the primary reasons he despises them and appreciates the way the NFL treats its players.

"I think what we get caught up in, in our league too much, is trying to compare greats to greats instead of just accepting and acknowledging and saying, 'Wow,

these are just great players,'" James said that year, according to cleveland.com.

"I think in the NFL, when you talk about great quarterbacks, they don't really compare great quarterbacks."
