Jason Kelce retired—why? Remembering Eagles center's retirement, start media career

The Eagles will miss a decade-long staple when they open their 2024 season on a special Friday Night Football versus the Packers.

After a 13-year career, All-Pro center Jason Kelce retired in 2023.

The 36-year-old played his entire career for Philadelphia. While leading one of the NFL's top offensive lines, he was virtually always available, playing 193 of 211 regular season games.

Six-time first-team All-Pro Kelce is one of the best centers in football history. He joins Hall of Famers Jim Otto, Bulldog Turner, Dermotti Dawson, and Jim Ringo as one of five offensive linemen to do so.

The Eagles lost to the Buccaneers in the NFC wild-card game in Tampa Bay in Kelce's final game.

The Super Bowl winner retired after 13 hard seasons.

"The physical portion is at a point that it's not a desire to continue to do," Kelce told his brother Travis on the "New Heights" podcast. Kelce found his next job quickly after football.

The future Hall of Fame center will start broadcasting on ESPN's "Monday Night Countdown." He will also continue his "New Heights" podcast with Travis.
