The NBA season is approaching, and it is already riddled with drama, much of it revolves around James Harden's strained relationship with the Philadelphia 76ers'
President of Basketball Operations, Daryl Morey. Harden, famed for his on-court prowess
has been making headlines for his off-court antics this summer. Now, he has finally revealed the basis of his disagreement with Morey
Harden begins by stating his determination to play in the upcoming season, but he makes it obvious that he does not expect to reconcile with Morey anytime soon.
He compares trust to marriage and emphasises how important it is in each relationship. When trust is broken, it becomes difficult to rebuild the relationship.
Notably, Harden does not address Morey by name, instead referring to him as "the front office.
This highlights the depth of their bond, which has lasted more than a decade and extends beyond basketball.
The feud between Harden and Morey began over a decade ago, when Morey, as General Manager of the Houston Rockets, orchestrated a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder to acquire Harden.
This move helped Harden emerge into an attacking force, and he went on to win the NBA MVP award in 2018. However, their relationship has subsequently deteriorated.
Harden comments on how he and the front office had a solid and communicative connection for many years, but that contact dwindled when the team encountered adversity.
He did not go into detail regarding the causes for the breakup, but it is evident that trust was broken.
