Green Bay Packers QB Malik Willis opts not to throw on key down after center throws up on the ball

On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers gave their all against the Indianapolis Colts. On the Packers' return to Lambeau Field,

newly acquired backup Malik Willis replaced starter quarterback Jordan Love, who injured his knee in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.

Willis has been with the team for three weeks after being acquired from the Tennessee Titans on August 26. He adjusted well in his debut, but he couldn't have imagined an awkward encounter with an offensive linemate.

On third down and 10 in the second quarter, Green Bay center Josh Myers seemed to vomit before snapping the ball to Willis.

Willis sprinted for three yards before being tackled instead of throwing the football on third and long. Willis told Packers head coach Matt LeFleur that Myers had puked on the football, so he ran.

LaFleur stated, “I asked Malik why he didn’t throw the ball on that third down, and he said Josh threw up on the ball. I said, 'That's the first time I've heard that!'

The manager came up to me and asked, ‘We saw your center throwing on the ball, do you want to take him out next time?’ They throw his vomit on the ball.

Myers felt like something was in his throat before the snap and wondered if the players' electrolyte drinks were to blame. He overcame the sickness.

“I’ve got to do my job,” Myers told USA TODAY postgame. Unfortunately, nobody cares if I vomit boredom, you know? I have to stop him. I am like, "Oh my god." I have to stop him now.

Willis completed 12-of-14 passes for 122 yards and scored his first NFL touchdown in his debut start. Green Bay's running assault was brutal, gaining 261 yards.

Indianapolis quarterback Anthony Richardson completed 17-of-34 for 204 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. Week 1's tight loss to the Houston Texans dropped the Colts to 0-2.
