During his debut season in Toronto, Christian Koloko showed great promise as a versatile 7-foot rim-protecting centre with an improved offensive game.
However, it all came to an end when he developed a blood clot issue that sidelined him for the entirety of last season
his destiny was in the hands of the NBA's Fitness-to-Play Panel, which deals with players who have potentially life-threatening ailments or injuries.
That body indicated that he could not practise or play. No team took up Koloko when the Raptors waived him last January.
That's changed. Koloko is going to be cleared to return to play, and the Lakers have reached an agreement with the Cameroonian native who played high school basketball in Southern California,
according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The Raptors, Clippers, and Spurs were all interested in Koloko, according to the report.
Koloko is currently awaiting official permission from the Fitness-to-Play Panel. In July,
Koloko's agent (Calvin Andrews of Klutch Sports) stated that his client achieved "a major breakthrough with his blood clot issue."
They identified the problem and he underwent corrective surgery." According to Andrews, Koloko is no longer taking blood thinners
which is critical to his comeback to play, and there was video of him in a 5-on-5 practice with several NBA players this summer.
