Chiefs, Bengals Release Final Injury Reports Before Sunday Matchup

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are heading into Week 2 with a lot on their plate after last season’s unexpected success with Baker Mayfield at quarterback.

Despite being pegged for a rebuild, the Bucs found their rhythm, clinching the NFC South title and making it as far as the NFC Divisional round before being ousted by the Detroit Lions.

Now, as they prepare to face the Lions again, the stakes are higher than revenge—this game is about measuring where they stand early in the season.

With several key injuries and a host of new players, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles emphasized the importance of assessing the team’s current state

"They're a different team, we're a different team. We've got a lot of new guys, different offensive coordinator, and it's a different scheme,"

Bowles remarked. His focus is less on last year’s loss and more on understanding how his team stacks up against tough competition.

Bowles also acknowledged the challenge of a first-place schedule, knowing the Bucs will face other formidable teams beyond Detroit.

"It's going to be a good measuring stick early on, and we just have to come ready to play," he said.

Sunday’s game offers more than just a shot at redemption—it’s an opportunity to send a message to the NFC that the Buccaneers are still contenders.

The Lions, along with the 49ers, Cowboys, and Eagles, have been at the center of NFC championship discussions, and a win against Detroit would signal that Tampa Bay belongs in that conversation.
