There are many questions concerning the future of the Chicago Bulls roster.
Veterans Nikola Vucevic and Zach LaVine no longer have the trade value to justify their former All-Star status.
This helps to understand why they remain on the team despite the overall youth movement.
However, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times believes the clock is ticking for some younger stars as well.
Dalen Terry, a 2022 first-round draft pick, is among Cowley's "now or never" athletes.
"If Terry's outside shooting is improved and the game slows down for him, he has a chance to stick. On September 14, Cowley wrote: "Big ifs, however."
Terry was the 18th overall pick in 2022. He appeared in 38 games as a rookie and 59 in 2023-24, including two starts. Terry had career highs of 3.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in his second season.
His 6-foot-7 frame and nearly 7-foot-1 wingspan indicate his defensive potential. However, Terry shot 25.9% from beyond the arc as a rookie and 23.1% in 2023-24.
Terry played on the main roster during the 2023-24 season. Over the course of his two-year tenure with the Windy City Bulls in the G League, he has proven to be more effective in small sample sizes.
However, the Bulls passed over other prospects who were more impactful even as rookies.
The Utah Jazz selected Kessler two picks later. He has been mentioned as a trade prospect since then, but he would have provided a clear succession plan for Vucevic's 2023 free agency.
Terry ranks 21st in win shares per 48 minutes, according to Basketball Reference. That is only three places behind his draft position. Terry has been outproduced by 12 players taken after him, which complicates the Bulls' situation.
