Aaron Rodgers didn't finish the Jets' first NFL game.
His long-awaited comeback was cut short in the fourth quarter to protect the quarterback with the game out of reach.
After Rodgers returned to the field after his 2023 season was cut short after four snaps due to a torn Achilles, the Jets didn't start well when Breece Hall fumbled on the fourth play.
However, they responded perfectly, moving down the field for seven minutes and 75 yards before Hall scored.
It appeared the Jets meant business when they took the lead after Rodgers found Garrett Wilson four times for 45 yards.
However, their offense stalled and their defense couldn't stop the 49ers' running game.
Jordan Mason dominated the Jets in the run game despite reigning Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey being ruled out just before kickoff.
The Jets were 32-13 down with fewer than five minutes left after eight consecutive 49ers scoring drives, so Rodgers was pulled.
Rodgers was replaced by offseason acquisition Tyrod Taylor from the New York Giants. The action was smart to protect the 40-year-old from injury.
